Kiwanis Club of Wright City members partner with Warren County Literacy, Inc. to raise money for the Dolly Parton “Books from Birth Program”. Children in Wright City from birth to 5 years old who are registered for this program will receive a free book in the mail each month.
Our first Fund Raiser in 2019 was called Wine, Books & Bingo. We offered a different Bingo Game. The cards spelled STORY at the top and we looked for names of children’s authors, titles, and characters. Prizes for rounds included books and a surprise in a tin which could be a gift card or something else. At the event we offered wine tasting from local vendors, 50/50 drawing and a silent auction.
In 2021 we held our second event and in 2022 we held our third Books & Bingo event. These events were exactly like the first, except we decided to drop the wine tasting. A great time was had by all and we raised enough money to help Books from Birth again!
These are the cards we used at the first event along with corn as the chips. For this year we used beans as chips.
